Patient: Hello, could I get an appointment this morning?

Receptionist: Of course. Are you registered with us?

Patient: Not yet. I’ve just moved into the area.

Receptionist: Well, at the Happy Valley Clinic we have eight healthcare providers. We're affiliated with the Happy Valley County Hospital, if you need a referral to a specialist, or to go to the emergency room. There's a doctor on call through the night, and an on-site laboratory, as well as an imaging center. So if you give us your medical insurance or HMO details, you can see a doctor this morning.

Patient: I haven’t brought my medical records.

Receptionist: OK, we’ll just make a note of what prescription and non-prescription drugs or medications you are taking.

Patient: Sure. I’d also like to make an appointment with the nurse for a flu shot.

Receptionist: No problem. And this morning Dr Kemp can see you at 10.45. His exam room is the second door on the right. The waiting room is just across the hall.

Patient: Thanks. Do you have any magazines?

Receptionist: No, but you’ll find plenty of literature about our services. We also have alternative therapy practitioners, and a weight control program here.

Patient: Weight control?

Receptionist: Not that you need it. Have a nice day!
